But this one actually held his attention for over an hour straight. The whole thing’s built around basic missions - find the lost toy, help the duck in the tree, save the kitten from the roof - all the classic Paw Patrol stuff. He loved hopping between Ryder’s base, the city streets, and the park, especially when he could unlock new vehicles like Chase’s police car or Marshall’s fire truck.

The good stuff

What really worked was how easy it was for him to jump in. No complicated menus, no confusing controls. Just tap A to run, Y to interact, and boom - he’s on a mission. The minigames were a nice surprise too. One involved sorting toys into crates by color, which felt like a tiny puzzle that kept him focused without being frustrating. And yeah, the visuals are bright and bouncy - not super detailed, but they’re fun in that kid-friendly way. It’s not trying to be anything other than what it is: a lighthearted adventure where teamwork saves the day.

The not-so-good

And look, it’s not exactly deep. Once you’ve done the main missions, there’s not much left. No multiplayer, no real progression beyond unlocking gear. The replay value is low unless your kid just loves doing the same things over and over. Also, it’s only available on Xbox One - not Nintendo Switch, despite what the name might suggest. That tripped me up at first. If you’re on Switch, this isn’t the version you want. And while the voice acting is on-brand, the lack of variety in dialogue gets old fast. It’s not bad, just… predictable.
