Termux App - SSH Terminal for Android

I’ve been using this app for a few months now, and honestly, it’s saved me from carrying my laptop just to check server logs or restart a service. I’m not a dev by trade, but I manage a few small web hosts, and having a real terminal in my pocket is way better than fumbling with web-based SSH clients. It’s not flashy, but it works - and that’s all I care about.

The good stuff

The keyboard shortcuts are actually usable. Like, hitting Ctrl + C to kill a process works without needing a special button layout. That might sound minor, but I’ve used other terminal apps where you had to tap a tiny “kill” icon. Nope here. Also, saving SSH credentials is a big win - I can connect to three different servers with one tap each. No more typing long hostnames or remembering passwords. And the theme customization? Yeah, you can change colors, font size, even the cursor style. I went with a dark mode and monospace font - feels like working on a real Linux box.

The not-so-good

It’s not perfect. The file browser is basic - no drag-and-drop, no thumbnails for images. If you’re trying to transfer files, you still need to use SFTP separately or rely on something like Termux’s built-in scp. Also, there’s no built-in tab system. You have to open multiple instances, which gets messy fast. And yeah, the developer is unknown - which is a bit of a red flag if you're paranoid about security. But I’ve used it daily for months and haven’t seen anything sketchy.

Bottom line

If you’re someone who needs a reliable SSH client on Android - whether you’re a sysadmin, a dev, or just someone who likes being able to poke at servers from your couch - this app is worth downloading. It’s free, it’s functional, and it does what it says. Compared to other options, it’s lighter than full desktop emulators and more capable than most web terminals. Just don’t expect a fancy interface. It’s not for everyone, but if you’ve ever typed “ssh user@host” on a phone before, you’ll get it. Try it - no harm, no risk.
