WearGPT for Android

So I’ve been using WearGPT for Android on my old Pixel Watch for a few weeks, mostly because I’m tired of fumbling with my phone when I’m cooking or walking. The idea of asking my watch something and getting a real answer? Yeah, that sounded cool. And honestly, it works okay - mostly. It’s not magic, but it does cut down on screen time when I just want to know “what’s 23 times 17” or “how do I fix this CSS bug?”

The good stuff

What surprised me was how fast it actually responded. I asked it to write a quick email draft after a meeting, and it came back with something usable in under five seconds. No menu diving, no typing. Just say what you need, and it spits out a short paragraph. Not perfect, but way faster than trying to type on a tiny screen. Also, the multilingual support? Real talk, I tested it in Spanish and German, and it handled basic questions without tripping over itself. That’s more than most wearables do.

And hey, it doesn’t just spit out answers - it remembers context. I asked it to summarize a long Slack thread earlier, then followed up with “send that to Sarah.” It knew who Sarah was from the prior convo. Small win, but nice when you’re on the move.

The not-so-good

But here’s the thing - it’s not always accurate. Once I asked it to convert Fahrenheit to Celsius for a recipe, and it gave me a number off by like 15 degrees. I had to double-check on my phone. Not a huge deal, but annoying when you’re relying on it mid-recipe. Also, the voice input isn’t great in noisy environments. If I’m outside or near a fan, it often mishears me. You end up repeating yourself, which kind of defeats the purpose of “hands-free.”

And yeah, the app’s super barebones. No themes, no customization beyond basic settings. It’s just… there. If you’re used to Apple Watch’s Siri or even Google Assistant on Wear OS, this feels like a beta version. Plus, no downloads listed anywhere - so I have no idea how popular it is. That’s a red flag for an unknown developer.

If you’re curious about AI on your watch and don’t mind a few glitches, WearGPT for Android for Android is free and worth a download. But don’t expect polish. It’s useful for quick tasks, especially if you’re typing-heavy or visually impaired. Just don’t trust it with anything important. For most people, the standard Wear OS assistants are still better. But if you want to play with AI on the wrist, this is a decent starter option.
